Monday, September 7, 2026, is Labor Day – a state and federal holiday. Additionally, Labor Day is a restricted holiday (“no work day”), as defined in the ILA labor contract.
The Port of Virginia will observe the following operating plan:
Thursday, September 3rd
- Standard, posted operating hours (click the link) at all terminals and facilities
- No release of PRO-PASS reservations at 0900 hours
- Empty return matrix for Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th will be made available after 1500 hours
Friday, September 4th
- Standard, posted operating hours at all terminals and facilities
- At 0900 hours, PRO-PASS reservations will open/be made available for Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th
- Empty return matrix for Thursday, September 10th will be made available after 1500 hours
Saturday, September 5th
- All Port of Virginia truck gates CLOSED, per standard operating plan
Sunday, September 6th
- All Port of Virginia truck gates CLOSED, per standard operating plan
- PRO-PASS reservations will be available at 0800 hours on Sunday, September 6th, and will become unavailable at 1700 hours, in accordance with the Reservation Scheduling Adjustment (click the link) process
- HARD STOP for all terminal activities at 2359 hours
Monday, September 7th – Labor Day
- State and federal holiday
- Restricted ILA holiday
- All Port of Virginia terminals and offices – CLOSED
Tuesday, September 8th
- 0600 hours, truck gates OPEN for the PPCY, PCY and the RSA
- 0700 hours, truck gates OPEN at NIT and VIG
- At 0700 hours, PRO-PASS reservations can now be made, edited and validated
- Standard, posted operating hours at all other terminals and facilities
- At 0900 hours, PRO-PASS reservations will open for Thursday, September 10th
- Empty return matrix for Friday, September 11th will be made available after 1500 hours
- NIT & VIG – inbound portal closure at 1700 hours
- PPCY, PCY & RSA – last empty container delivery and pick-up at 1730 hours
