2024 Memorial Day Weekend Operating Hours

Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, a state and federal holiday.  As we approach the Memorial Day weekend, we honor the memories of our countrymen and countrywomen, who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom.

The Port of Virginia will observe the following operating hours for container operations** on Monday, May 27.

Norfolk International Terminal (NIT) and Virginia International Gateway (VIG) will open at 0700 hours, with an inbound portal closure of 1600 hours

  • PRO-PASS mandatory reservation hours will be in effect from 0700 – 1500 hours
  • Mandatory reservation period will conclude at 1500 hours
  • Final reefer pick-up at 1530

The Pinner’s Point Container Yard (PPCY), Portsmouth Chassis Yard (PCY), and the Reefer Service Area (RSA) will open at 0700 hours, with last trucks in / last units handled at 1630 hours

  • All empty returns will be designated by the Empty Return Matrix

**Note:

  • NIT, NNMT and VIG Breakbulk/OOG/CFS operations will be closed on Monday, May 27

To ensure access to your cargo, regular weekday 0300 gate hours for VIG, PPCY and the PCY will continue through June 14. We will continually review commercial performance and forecasts, ensuring the gate hour capacity aligns with customer demand.
