The National Weather Service is forecasting a severe, long-duration storm for our area during the next 48-72 hours. This weather system will move into the region this evening and is expected to generate abnormally-high and dangerous tides in the low-lying coastal areas of the region that will bring significant flooding. In addition, the forecast holds rain and sustained strong winds.
As a result, all Port of Virginia colleagues who can work from home are being directed to do so on Monday, Oct. 3. This directive applies primarily to team members who report to the World Trade Center, the Acosta Building, the Financial Services Center (FSC), the Port Operations Center (POC) and non-essential team members at VIG and NIT; if you have a question please contact your supervisor.
