The Port of Virginia Winter Weather Update – Monday, February 2nd

In the interest of safety, The Port of Virginia will observe the following operational plan.

Monday, February 2nd:

Truck gates at Norfolk International Terminal (NIT), Virginia International Gateway (VIG), Pinner’s Point Container Yard (PPCY), Portsmouth Chassis Yard (PCY) and the Reefer Service Area (RSA) will be CLOSED

  • Vessel and rail operations will continue over the weekend, weather permitting. Conditions will be monitored and operational changes will be communicated.

Tuesday, February 3rd:

Observing normal posted operating hours (click the link)

  • To support safe stacking operations, motor carrier partners are required to remove all debris and snow from the top of inbound containers, prior to entering the port
  • PRO-PASS reservation hours for Tuesday, February 3rd and Wednesday, February, 4th, will be made available at 0900 hours today, January 30th
  • Empty returns will be designated by the Empty Return Matrix

Saturday, February 7th:

Truck gates at NIT and VIG will open at 0800 hours:

  • PRO-PASS reservation hours for Saturday will be made available at 0900 hours on Thursday, February 5th
  • The Empty Return Matrix for Saturday will be made available after 1500 hours on Wednesday, February 4th
  • Final reefer pick-up at 1530 hours
  • Inbound portal closure of 1600 hours

Truck gates at the PPCY and PCY will open at 0800 hours:

  • Last trucks handled at 1630 hours
  • Empty returns will be designated by the Empty Return Matrix
