The Port of Virginia Operational Update – Return to Work – October 5, 2024

UPDATE October 4, 2024

All Port of Virginia marine terminals and support facilities will reopen on Saturday, October 5th. To support the resumption of operations, the port is offering extended weekend gate hours Saturday, Oct. 5th and Sunday, Oct. 6th.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6

  • Norfolk International Terminal (NIT) and Virginia International Gateway (VIG) will open at 0700 hours
    • Inbound portal closure of 1600 hours
    • PRO-PASS mandatory reservation hours will be in effect from 0700 – 1400 hours at NIT and VIG
    • At 0900 hours on Friday, Oct. 4th, PRO-PASS reservations will be made available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
    • Final reefer pick-up at 1530 hours
    • All empty returns will be designated by the Empty Return Matrix
  • The Pinner’s Point Container Yard (PPCY), Portsmouth Chassis Yard (PCY), and Reefer Service Area (RSA) will open at 0700 hours
    • PPCY, PCY, RSA – last trucks in / last units handled at 1630 hours
    • All empty returns will be designated by the Empty Return Matrix

Normal operating hours will be observed starting Monday, October 7th.
